About Speed Meet Challenge Event
Last updated
Speed Meet Challenge is a dynamic event held every two months as part of Gethar: Meet & Earn, designed to stimulate social activity and encourage new connections among users. Over the course of 24 hours, participants compete in the speed and number of video meetings with new interlocutors, earning points for each verified conversation. The event highlights Gethar’s social mission — connecting people — and integrates into the platform’s economy through rewards in GTH tokens and exclusive NFTs. Speed Meet Challenge not only boosts engagement but also strengthens the community, making the platform a hub for active communication.
Frequency and Duration
Frequency: The event takes place once every two months (e.g., on the first Monday of each even-numbered month — February, April, June, etc.).
Duration: 24 hours, from 00:00 to 23:59 UTC, to accommodate users across different time zones.
How the Event Works
Participation: Any user with an active Gethar account can join for free via the "Events" section in the app.
Objective: Participants must find new interlocutors (those they haven’t had video meetings with before) and hold video calls with them lasting at least 5 minutes.
Point System:
Each verified 5-minute video call = 1 point.
Verification is done automatically through the Stellar Soroban smart contract, which records the start and end of the call.
Restrictions:
Each interlocutor counts only once (repeated calls with the same user do not earn additional points).
Minimum activity to qualify for rewards is 5 points (5 meetings).
Results: After the 24-hour period ends, the smart contract calculates points and determines the top 10 participants.
Stellar and Soroban: Video calls are registered via a smart contract that logs user IDs, call start and end times on the Stellar blockchain for transparency.
Anti-Fraud: The system verifies the uniqueness of interlocutors and call duration, excluding short or fake sessions.
Interface: The Gethar app displays a real-time point counter and leaderboard.
Prize Pool
Total Pool: 750,000 GTH + exclusive NFTs for each event.
Source: 600,000 GTH from the "Tournaments and Rewards" pool (10% of the total emission, 300 million GTH, divided over 10 years, approximately 2.5 million GTH per month, with a portion allocated to Speed Meet Challenge every 2 months) + 150,000 GTH from the redistribution of room taxes from the previous period.
Waiting infographics
GTH Tokens: The primary reward, encouraging participation and increasing the income of top players.
NFTs:
"Speed Master" (Legendary) — A unique item with a bonus of +100 GTH to the weekly room mining limit, issued as a single copy per event.
"Chat Champion" (Epic) — Collectible decor with +30% APR.
"Social Star" (Rare) — Avatar or decor with +20% APR.
"Meet Enthusiast" (Uncommon) — Cosmetic item with +5% APR.
APR Bonuses: Temporary increase in room profitability for winners, attracting more guests.
Chest: Participants with 5+ points receive a common chest (all tokens spent on opening are burned).
Inflation Control
10% of the prize pool (75,000 GTH) is burned after each event to offset emission. Distribution is handled by the Soroban smart contract, with records fixed on the Stellar blockchain.
Example Calculation
Scenario: 500 participants; top-1 conducts 50 meetings (50 points), top-2 — 45 meetings, top-3 — 40 meetings. 200 participants score 5+ points.
Pool: 600,000 GTH (base) + 150,000 GTH (taxes) = 750,000 GTH.
Burning: 75,000 GTH is removed from circulation.
Distribution:
1st: 300,000 GTH + Legendary NFT + 50% APR.
2nd: 150,000 GTH + Epic NFT + 30% APR.
3rd: 75,000 GTH + Rare NFT + 20% APR.
4th–10th: 210,000 GTH (30,000 × 7) + Uncommon NFTs.
Participants: 200 chests (10,000 GTH burned upon opening).
Economic Role
Tokenomics: Speed Meet Challenge uses the "Tournaments and Rewards" pool (10% of 3 billion GTH), which is about 1/5 of the monthly event budget, supplemented by room taxes. Burning 10% of the pool supports the deflationary model of GTH.
NFTs: Exclusive rewards increase demand for in-game assets, strengthening Gethar’s NFT market.
Social Value
New Connections: The event encourages users to step outside their usual social circles, enhancing the social aspect of "meet-to-earn."
Activity: The 24-hour format promotes intensive use of video calls, boosting engagement.
Technical Implementation
Stellar: All transactions (rewards, burning) are recorded on the blockchain, ensuring transparency.
Soroban: Smart contracts automate point calculation, verification of unique interlocutors, and prize distribution.
